What this data can and cannot tell you

Below is where our information is strong, where it is thin, and which parts of it are routinely misread.

Not advice

Nothing here is dental, medical, legal, financial or insurance advice. We do not diagnose or recommend treatment. Clinic lists are ordered by how complete our record is, dentist lists alphabetically, search results by how closely they match what you typed, and a location search by distance. None of those orderings says anything about how good a clinic or a dentist is. Where a quality rating appears it is informational and is not a recommendation.

If you have severe pain, facial swelling, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or uncontrolled bleeding, call 911 or go to an emergency department. Dental infections can become dangerous quickly.

The figures people misread

Procedure fees are what Medicaid pays the clinic — not what you pay

A Medicaid patient usually pays nothing, or a small co-pay. It is not a price quote.

Capacity figures describe the operator, not the clinic

Health centres report as organisations, and a single organisation can run many sites. Those totals cover every site the operator runs, not the address you are looking at.

“Bills Medicare” is not “Medicare covers your treatment”

Traditional Medicare pays for dental work only in narrow circumstances.

A map pin is a surveyed point; an area is not

Most clinics are placed at a surveyed address point. The rest have only a postcode centroid, and appear as an area with no distance shown.

State coverage is about the state, not the clinic

A benefit gap in the programme says nothing about the quality of any clinic, and does not mean the clinic will turn you away.

Absences

A field missing from a listing means one of three different things:

  • We could not confirm it at this address. Federal data reports dental activity per operator, not per site. It does not mean the clinic lacks dental services.
  • The publisher withheld it under small-cell privacy rules. A withheld figure is not a zero and is never shown as one.
  • It genuinely does not exist — commercial insurance networks, self-pay prices and patient reviews.

Reliance

Use this site to build a shortlist and to know what to ask. Then call. The clinic's own staff are the authority on their hours, what they charge you, and whether they are taking new patients.
